Welcome to VI International Workshop

The Research Centre of Mathematics - CMAT of Minho University will host the VI International Workshop on Spatio-Temporal Modelling (METMAVI) from 12th to 14th September 2012. The purpose of this workshop is to promote the development and application of spatio-temporal statistical methods in different fields related to Environmental and Health Sciences.

The scientific programme is characterized by having special invited sessions covering topics on the latest in theory, methods and applications, as well as contributed papers and posters.

METMAVI, a satellite conference of TIES, will build on the success of previous workshops in this series held in Benicassim (2001), Granada (2004), Pamplona (2006), Alghero (2008, Italy) and Santiago de Compostela (2010).

METMAVI will be held in Guimarães, Portugal. Guimarães was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001 by UNESCO and it was chosen by the Portuguese government to be the European Capital of Culture in 2012. Thus, it makes the perfect venue for a scientific meeting, where reflection and debate may be inspired by the city’s legacy.

Information for participants:

- A special issue of SERRA will be edited for the conference papers, following the usual reviewing procedure. Another Special Issue of Journal of Environmental Statistics will be devoted to the conference contributions. There will be proceedings with ISBN published at the time of the conference.
- A tutorial Biostatistics in Public Health: longitudinal data analysis will be held on 11/09/2012, in Department of Mathematics and Applications, Campus Azurém, University of Minho.
